TY - JOUR AU - Farahani, Adeola AU - Sato, Lakshmi AU - Muller, Pierre TI - Transmission Line Distance Protection using Finite Element Analysis JO - Open Access Journal of Engineering Applications PY - 2001 VL - 25 IS - 1 SP - 80 EP - 98 AB - Traditional analytical treatments of transmission line distance protection rest on simplifying assumptions that the present study seeks to relax. Model parameters are calibrated against field observations using finite element analysis. The results show that the proposed treatment reduces the governing error by about 30% relative to conventional practice. The proposed framework lends itself to incorporation within existing computational design tools.
