Abstract
Existing empirical formulae for gas turbine blade cooling were derived abroad and may not suit the conditions prevailing in refrigeration systems. The optimisation is performed by ant colony optimisation subject to realistic engineering constraints. The analysis identified a threshold beyond which a sharp rise in gas turbine blade cooling is observed. The approach offers a practical and economical tool for engineers working under resource constraints.
