Abstract
Despite decades of study, the behaviour of building seismic response under realistic loading conditions is still imperfectly understood. A prototype was constructed and its behaviour compared with predictions obtained from multi-objective optimisation. The scheme remained stable for time steps up to 5 times larger than the explicit limit. The evidence assembled here supports a more systematic treatment of the problem in practice.
