Abstract

Reliable prediction of power quality disturbances would permit considerable savings in the construction and operation of broadband access networks. Experimental data gathered from broadband access networks are interpreted with the aid of Monte Carlo simulation. The analysis identified a threshold beyond which a sharp rise in power quality disturbances is observed. These results may inform the development of appropriate national standards and codes of practice.
