Abstract
Safety considerations alone are sufficient to justify a thorough and systematic investigation of induction motor performance in solar photovoltaic systems. The proposed procedure relies on statistical process control to capture the nonlinear behaviour of solar photovoltaic systems. Optimisation improved overall efficiency by 59% without any increase in capital cost. The approach is well suited to conditions commonly encountered in developing countries.
