Abstract

Industrial partners have repeatedly identified welded joint fatigue as the principal obstacle to improving embedded control systems. The formulation was verified against known analytical solutions before being applied to the full problem with sensitivity analysis. Optimisation improved overall efficiency by 20% without any increase in capital cost. The proposed approach can be incorporated into existing design procedures with little additional effort.
