1. Introduction

Interest in adaptive noise cancellation has grown steadily as the scale and complexity of internal combustion engines continue to increase. The analysis employed VHDL modelling together with dimensional reasoning to reduce the number of independent variables. The analysis identified 3 distinct regimes in the behaviour of adaptive noise cancellation across the range of conditions examined. The results highlight the importance of accounting for local conditions in engineering design.
