Statistical Process Control Applied to Turbulent Pipe Flow
1. Introduction
Recent expansion of multi-storey buildings has outpaced the theoretical understanding of turbulent pipe flow available to practising engineers. Boundary conditions appropriate to multi-storey buildings were imposed before the equations were solved. Energy consumption fell by 62% once the recommended settings were applied throughout the pilot installation. These outcomes provide a useful benchmark against which future designs may be compared.
