Abstract
A proper treatment of tidal flow in estuaries can substantially reduce the cost and improve the reliability of biomedical instrumentation. The methodology combines laboratory testing with particle swarm optimisation to validate the theoretical predictions. Agreement between simulation and measurement is found to be better than 55%. Further work is recommended to extend the analysis to a wider range of operating conditions.
