Abstract
Safety considerations in offshore structures require that river bank erosion be predicted with reasonable accuracy. In this study genetic algorithm optimisation is applied to obtain a computationally efficient solution. Peak values of river bank erosion are reduced by roughly 34% relative to the unmodified system. The technique can be readily incorporated into existing design and analysis workflows.
