Abstract
Despite extensive research, network intrusion detection continues to pose difficulties for engineers working on petrochemical refineries. Numerical experiments are performed using genetic algorithm optimisation for a representative case drawn from petrochemical refineries. Failure occurs at a load 5 percent higher than that predicted by existing methods. The proposed approach offers a practical and economical alternative to conventional practice.
