TY - JOUR AU - Ahmed, Farhana AU - Sharma, Abdullah TI - Hidden Markov Modelling Applied to Shell-And-Tube Heat Exchangers JO - Open Access Journal of Engineering Applications PY - 2013 VL - 37 IS - 1 SP - 381 EP - 399 AB - The inherent complexity of shell-and-tube heat exchangers calls for robust analytical and experimental tools suited to automotive engineering. Numerical simulations based on hidden Markov modelling were conducted for a range of loading conditions. The optimised parameters raised the useful output by 37% while simultaneously reducing the overall losses. This investigation opens up several promising avenues for future research and continued technological development.
