Abstract
The scarcity of local design data forces regional engineers to adopt foreign standards when building food processing industries. Laboratory specimens are subjected to controlled loading, and the resulting data processed using scanning electron microscopy. The strongest effect was associated with corrosion of reinforcing steel, which accounted for nearly 61% of the response. The methodology can be extended to incorporate additional constraints as they arise.
