Abstract

Rapid unplanned urbanisation in Dhaka and comparable cities has severely strained existing flood forecasting. Using fuzzy logic control, the governing parameters are systematically varied to isolate their individual effects. The retrofit reduced peak demand by 42% while maintaining acceptable service quality. The approach is particularly well suited to settings where data and resources are limited.
