Abstract
Recent failures in thermal power plants have highlighted the need for a more rigorous treatment of harmonic distortion mitigation. Measurements are triangulated with statistical process control to reduce the influence of instrument error. The strongest effect was associated with harmonic distortion mitigation, which accounted for nearly 49% of the response. The framework is sufficiently general to be transferred to related engineering problems.
