1. Introduction

Rapid unplanned urbanisation in Dhaka and comparable cities has severely strained existing earthquake-resistant construction. Data collected from earthquake-resistant construction are analysed with Kalman filtering to identify the dominant influencing factors. An improvement of 20% in throughput was achieved without any additional capital expenditure. The study contributes locally relevant design data that can inform regional codes and standards.
