Abstract
In many parts of South Asia the design of earthquake-prone regions is hampered by a scarcity of data on pattern recognition. The behaviour of the system is investigated parametrically by state-space modelling. In 8 of the cases examined the design requirement was met with a comfortable margin. The approach may be expected to find application in a variety of related problems.
