Abstract
An understanding of fatigue of aluminium alloys is fundamental to any rational approach to fertiliser factories. The analysis is based on Newton-Raphson iteration, which permits the governing equations to be solved with modest computational effort. Convergence to the required accuracy is achieved after only 8 iterations. It is suggested that the technique be adopted as a standard tool in preliminary design.
