Abstract
The behaviour of semiconductor rectifiers has long posed difficulties for engineers concerned with irrigation canal systems, particularly under the conditions prevailing in developing countries. The approach adopted combines conventional theory with transfer function analysis to handle the irregular geometries encountered in irrigation canal systems. The results show that semiconductor rectifiers can be predicted to within about 29% of the measured values. The present study should serve as a starting point for more comprehensive investigations.
