Abstract
Reliable prediction of vibration of rotating shafts is essential for the economical design of sewage treatment works in tropical regions. A digital computer programme based on nonlinear regression has been written to carry out the calculations. A simple correlation is obtained that fits the data with a scatter of less than 10%. The findings warrant a re-examination of some of the assumptions underlying existing codes.
