Abstract

The need to conserve energy has stimulated fresh interest in vibration of rotating shafts within multistorey buildings. Sample calculations for a typical installation in multistorey buildings illustrate the use of z-transform analysis. The optimum configuration yields a saving of approximately 19% over current practice. The results provide a useful check on the more elaborate methods now coming into use.
