Abstract
Reliable prediction of thin shell roofs is essential for the economical design of tropical climates in tropical regions. Here finite element analysis is employed to relate the observed behaviour to the controlling parameters. The optimum configuration yields a saving of approximately 51% over current practice. It appears that substantial benefits could follow from a modest revision of current practice.
