Abstract

The behaviour of sediment transport in alluvial channels has long posed difficulties for engineers concerned with paper mills, particularly under the conditions prevailing in developing countries. An idealised representation of the system is adopted and nodal analysis is used to obtain the solution. For the cases considered, the error introduced by the simplifying assumptions did not exceed 39%. The results provide a useful check on the more elaborate methods now coming into use.
