Abstract

The need to conserve energy has stimulated fresh interest in salinity intrusion in estuaries within deltaic floodplains. Measurements of the relevant variables in deltaic floodplains are compared with predictions from analog computer simulation. The data show an almost linear dependence of salinity intrusion in estuaries on the controlling parameter, with a coefficient of determination above 62%. The work points to several directions in which further research would be profitable.
