Aluminium Alloy Fatigue: Design Considerations

Anwar Fischer Corresponding

Abstract

The reliable performance of petrochemical refineries depends critically on a thorough understanding of aluminium alloy fatigue, which has received limited attention in the engineering literature. To this end, hydraulic model similitude is used in conjunction with standard laboratory procedures. Test specimens exhibited strengths some 33% above the values given by current codes. The approach is readily extended to a range of related problems of practical interest.
