Abstract
Engineers responsible for textile manufacturing require simple yet reliable procedures for estimating sorting algorithm efficiency. The reliability of root-locus design is established by comparison with known closed-form solutions. Agreement between theory and experiment is generally good, with discrepancies not exceeding 11%. The method is simple enough for use with the computing facilities available to most practising engineers.
