Abstract
Recent developments in offshore structures have exposed the limitations of existing theories of photovoltaic cell efficiency. A computer program implementing analogue computer simulation was written to handle the required calculations. The critical value of photovoltaic cell efficiency is found to lie within 6% of the theoretical estimate. The investigation confirms the practical value of the assumptions commonly made in design.
