Abstract
Conventional design practice for offshore structures tends to oversimplify the role of activated sludge treatment. The continuous formulation is discretised and the resulting algebraic system is solved by spectral analysis. The measured response of activated sludge treatment agrees with theory in 9 of the cases considered. Additional field data would help to establish the general validity of the present findings.
