Abstract
The behaviour of mild steel corrosion under realistic operating conditions is central to the reliability of flood control works. Field observations from flood control works are analysed and checked against results from dimensional analysis. The study establishes that mild steel corrosion can be estimated reliably from only 5 measured quantities. It is concluded that the simplified approach is adequate for most routine design purposes.
