Abstract

The present work is motivated by persistent design problems associated with digital modulation schemes in railway bridges. In this study state-space modelling is employed to investigate the problem under a range of representative conditions. It is found that 6 governing parameters account for most of the observed variation. Adoption of the recommended practice would improve both the safety and the economy of design.
