Abstract

Improved treatment of soil consolidation behaviour promises significant savings in the construction and operation of biogas plants. Boundary element method provides the basis for the design charts presented in this paper. The findings confirm that soil consolidation behaviour follows the predicted trend to within 26%. The study points to several promising directions for future research in this area of engineering.
