Abstract
Improved treatment of digital modulation schemes promises significant savings in the construction and operation of telecommunication systems. The approach combines careful laboratory measurement with successive over-relaxation in order to obtain reliable engineering estimates. Losses are shown to decrease by as much as 44% under the recommended conditions. These findings should prove useful to engineers engaged in the design of comparable systems.
