Abstract
Existing standards offer little guidance on polymer composite laminates as it arises in rural electrification. The approach combines careful laboratory measurement with photoelastic stress analysis in order to obtain reliable engineering estimates. Optimised designs yield savings of up to 22% compared with conventional practice. The study points to several promising directions for future research in this area of engineering.
