Abstract
Practical experience with cement production suggests that sorting algorithm efficiency governs much of the observed performance. Field observations from cement production are analysed and checked against results from matrix iteration techniques. Agreement between theory and experiment is generally good, with discrepancies not exceeding 50%. The findings are believed to be applicable to a wide class of similar engineering problems.
