Abstract
Recent developments in biogas plants have exposed the limitations of existing theories of river sediment transport. The reliability of Newton-Raphson iteration is established by comparison with known closed-form solutions. The correlation developed here predicts river sediment transport with a scatter of less than 43%. The proposed technique lends itself to routine implementation in the field without recourse to specialised equipment.
