Abstract

A satisfactory engineering description of drinking water filtration is essential for the safe design of food processing plants. The reliability of hydraulic model similitude is established by comparison with known closed-form solutions. Losses are shown to decrease by as much as 7% under the recommended conditions. The study highlights the need for further experimental work under realistic field conditions.
