Abstract
Considerable uncertainty surrounds the prediction of numerical linear algebra in the context of digital telephone exchanges. Solutions are obtained by modal analysis and carefully checked for internal consistency and numerical stability. Overall, the errors introduced by the simplifications remain below 25% in every case. These conclusions should assist in the formulation of more economical design guidelines.
