Abstract
The absence of standardised procedures for voltage regulation continues to trouble practitioners in steel rolling mills. A survey of existing practice in steel rolling mills is combined with a limited experimental programme. Costs are reduced by approximately 29% when the recommended procedure is adopted. The study highlights the need for locally derived data in place of imported design values.
