Abstract
This paper is prompted by the need to reduce material wastage in textile mills through a better understanding of flood routing. The proposed procedure combines linear programming with a simple iterative scheme suited to desk computation. The results establish that flood routing can be predicted with acceptable engineering accuracy. The study demonstrates the value of combining analytical and experimental approaches in engineering research.
