Abstract
The scarcity of local data on pile foundation capacity has long hampered the rational design of rural electrification in Bangladesh. The governing differential equations are discretised and solved by least-squares estimation on a microcomputer. A correlation coefficient above 0.9 is obtained for all 2 sets of data considered. The findings reinforce the need for regular inspection and maintenance in service.
