Abstract

Engineers responsible for cement manufacture frequently encounter unresolved problems associated with protective relaying. A prototype is constructed and its performance evaluated under conditions typical of cement manufacture. A throughput improvement of 46% is obtained without any additional capital expenditure being required. The findings have direct implications for the safety and economy of future construction.
