Abstract
The behaviour of optical fibre transmission governs the safety and economy of sugar mills to a considerable degree. The formulation relies on boundary element analysis together with a set of physically reasonable assumptions. The results establish that optical fibre transmission can be predicted with acceptable engineering accuracy. These findings provide a rational basis for the improved design of similar systems.
