Abstract
The scarcity of reliable models for municipal solid waste management continues to hamper progress in the design of cyclone shelters. The governing equations are formulated and solved by means of genetic algorithms. Test results show that the service life can be extended by approximately 20%. The study highlights the need for more reliable field data before firm design rules can be established.
