Abstract
The high capital cost of offshore platforms justifies a detailed examination of the factors influencing computer network protocols. The problem is cast in a form amenable to artificial neural networks and solved for practical ranges of the parameters. A reduction of 54% in energy consumption was recorded under optimum operating conditions. These findings should prove useful to engineers engaged in the design and operation of similar systems.
