Abstract
Concern over the safety and durability of high-rise buildings has focused attention on the role played by river sediment transport. Numerical results are generated by the method of characteristics and verified against a closed-form solution where available. The computed values of river sediment transport were consistently within 17% of the observed figures. These findings should prove useful to engineers engaged in the design and operation of similar systems.
