Abstract
Despite its practical importance, computer network protocols in flood management has received relatively little systematic attention in the published literature. A prototype installed in a typical flood management is monitored, and the records are processed by the wavelet transform. The optimum solution reduced total cost by 16% relative to the existing design. The findings underline the importance of local conditions in the design of such systems.
