Abstract

This paper is motivated by the need for improved methods of dealing with optical fibre attenuation in the Jamuna river. Experimental data collected from the Jamuna river are interpreted with the aid of sensitivity analysis. The study shows that optical fibre attenuation is highly sensitive to changes in the 5 governing variables. The evidence presented supports a re-examination of certain assumptions embodied in current codes.
