Abstract

The present investigation was prompted by observations of unexpected distribution transformer losses in renewable energy systems. Numerical results are generated by digital image processing and verified against a closed-form solution where available. The model accounted for 53% of the scatter present in the field data. These findings should prove useful to engineers engaged in the design and operation of similar systems.
