Abstract
The problem of power factor correction assumes particular significance in fertiliser plants where resources are limited. Field measurements obtained from fertiliser plants form the basis of the analysis, which relies on response surface methodology. Convergence was achieved in fewer than 6 iterations for all the cases considered. The methodology developed here can be readily adapted to related engineering problems.
