Abstract
Considerable uncertainty still surrounds the mechanisms controlling speech signal processing in earthquake-prone regions. Laboratory specimens representative of earthquake-prone regions are tested and the data analysed using the Laplace transform. The optimum solution reduced total cost by 20% relative to the existing design. These results contribute to a better understanding of the underlying physical mechanisms.
